ON A MISSION OF SIGNING OVER THE TRUE SENSE OF CLEAN BEAUTY
Have you ever scanned the ingredients listed on skincare label?
More than half of us haven't and that's where the potentially harmful ingredients are marked. This is because the strategic marketing of a skincare product focuses majorly on the active ingredients while constantly ignoring the dirty dozen.
Our strong affinity lies only towards the effectiveness (though unsustainable) and
we do not take a notice of side effects!
“Never mind, it happens”, “Most of my friends feel the same”, “It will settle after moisturizing the skin”
This is how we react to - Dryness after cleansing or the irritating effect of a skincare
Have you ever asked WHY?
These can be the harsh consequences of some SYNTHETIC EMULSIFIERS marked somewhere in the row of ingredients but disregarded. DEBUGGING/ELIMINATING THE DIRTY DOZEN FROM SKINCARE EMULSIFIERS WHAT ARE EMULSIFIERS & WHY ARE THEY ADDED TO SKINCARE PRODUCTS?
Retrace your steps towards the basics of chemistry between oil and water. Oil and water are two immiscible materials often used in skincare products. To bind oil in water or water in oil and create a stable mixture, an external material called an emulsifier is required. Emulsifiers vary from an array of synthetic surfactants (of these, some are strong irritants) to harmless bio-surfactants obtained from natural ingredients (Skinsigns favourite).
BIGGEST REASON WHY WE ELIMINATED THE CONVENTIONAL SYNTHETIC EMULSIFIERS & MERGED THE NATURAL ONES!
Clinical studies have indicated the adverse effects (irritation, allergy or toxicity) of numerous synthetic emulsifiers on the skin barrier.
To analyze it in simpler terms, consider the fact that our skin is composed of multiple layers. The uppermost layer called hydrolipidic acts as a barrier and guards the skin against damaging agents. This layer usually contains fatty acids, cholesterol and ceramides. Right beneath the hydrolipidic layer, the structural composition of corneocytes and moisture is found. When a skincare product containing any synthetic emulsifier penetrates your skin, it can disturb the structure of the skin barrier. These emulsifiers do not lose their ability of emulsifying and keep on mixing the water (moisture layer) and oil (hydrolipid layer) and thus disturbing the natural skin barrier. This process weakens your skin defence allowing pathogens and toxins to penetrate.
Within Skinsigns, emulsifiers are obtained from well-studied natural ingredients like Guar Gum and Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Wax. Studies indicate that these ingredients possess great emulsifying properties and are neither irritant nor toxic to the human skin barrier. They do not cause dryness but support moisturization of the skin.
…And this became our crucial yet successful step towards our mission of formulating & delivering the ‘REAL CLEAN’.
